Following the coming into office of the new European Commission’s on 1 December and in consideration of the structural weaknesses which continue to plague the Common European Asylum System, all eyes are on the impending New Pact on Migration and Asylum. The Special Focus emphasises that the New Pact may push control-oriented policies even higher in the EU agenda, as this is the only area where consensus is likely to be found.
