The European Policy Centre (EPC) and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) are collaborating on a project entitled EU Communications on Migration: Perspectives and Strategies. The project seeks to develop practical recommendations and tools that are aimed at empowering EU actors charged with communicating the Union’s views on migration. In short, the project will define why it is important, as well as possible, to improve the ways in which the EU communicates on migration.
The project includes a strong dialogue-oriented component, bringing together experts and key communication officials from EU institutions. In that way, it seeks to progressively build a good understanding and trust-based relation between the different stakeholders. The input from communication officials will be actively solicited during a series of three roundtable meetings with a view to developing targeted recommendations that address different files and communication needs as they emerge rather than presenting generalist approaches. These roundtables will be combined with analytical insights from communication experts. A final publication will present the most important lessons learned and tools used.
