The European Policy Centre, the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, the Ukrainian Civil Society Hub and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and PinchukArtCentre are pleased to invite you to this hybrid conference and art exhibition on Monday 5 September, from 17.00 to 18.30 (CEST).
Since the start of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, barbaric war crimes against the Ukrainian people have become an everyday occurrence. Russia actively targets Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure through a series of atrocities, such as rape, executions, torture and bombardments.
This policy dialogue will focus on the continuous war crimes that Russia is committing in Ukraine. The panel will look at ways to boost cooperation between Ukraine and the EU to ensure an effective joint investigation of Russian war crimes; the creation of an international tribunal for Russia’s crimes in Ukraine, to condemn Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials; possible legal, technical and financial assistance from other international partners; and mechanisms to ensure that all war criminals will be brought to justice.
The event will be opened by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal; Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President; and Victor Pinchuk, Founder of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and PinchukArtCentre, who will deliver introductory remarks and present the Russian War Crimes exhibition. The exhibition shows photographs from all over Ukraine of war crimes committed from the beginning of the war until May. The exhibition puts faces and names to Ukrainians so that they do not become mere statistics. It also offers some of the victims a place to share their stories.
The Policy Dialogue will be held in a hybrid format at Station Europe building, Place du Luxembourg 100, B-1050 Brussels. (Physical participation is limited.)
