There is a need to understand the nexus between resources in light of a mounting global demand aggravated by the effects of climate change, which poses common challenges both to Europe and Asia. While the world continues to struggle in ensuring access to safe drinking water for all, further pressures are created by the energy sector and agriculture, which both require large quantities of water. Water security, energy security and food security are interdependent challenges that cannot be solved in isolation. This event explored how well these interlinkages are recognised and addressed in public policies, and how could Europe and Asia cooperate more to increase food security, while managing the global water and energy challenges.
