Guided by the motto “Europe as a Task: Rethink, Rebuild, Repower” the Czech Council Presidency focused on five key priorities: managing the refugee crisis and Ukraine’s post-war-recovery, energy security, reinforcing Europe’s defence capabilities and cyberspace security, strategic resilience of the European economy, and strengthening democratic institutions. In practical terms, however, the Czech Presidency has been yet another “crisis presidency” in view of the ongoing war in Ukraine and its impact on Europe. Following the final European Council meeting of the year, this online Policy Dialogue will assess what was achieved by the Czech Presidency in these challenging months. How much space was left for other policy issues beyond crisis management? And what is on the cards for the upcoming Swedish presidency?
This event takes place in the context of Project Presidency, a series of joint activities of the EPC and the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy to discuss key policy issues during the Czech Presidency of the Council.
