Europe's ageing population and the growing demand for long-term care underscore the significance of sustainable healthcare systems. Although health technologies offer promising opportunities, they also entail increased expenses. Disparities in healthcare spending exist among the EU27, and geopolitical challenges may force difficult trade-offs and potential reductions in healthcare budgets.
Creating and financing sustainable healthcare systems require a delicate balance between accessibility, quality of care, and affordability. Collaboration between governments, healthcare providers, insurers, and the public is essential to ensure that healthcare remains a fundamental human right while being fiscally responsible for society's well-being.
This in-person Policy Dialogue seeks to explore the role of the EU, the European Semester, and Country Specific Recommendations in supporting member states to ensure sustainable healthcare systems.
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media and EU officials
