Annual Conference / PRESS RELEASE

Date: 25/11/2024

We are thrilled to announce the 2024 edition of the EPC Annual Conference, taking place on the  5th December in Brussels. This year’s theme Leading Europe in the New Era: What Skills and Strategies Do We Need?  sets the stage for an engaging and dynamic platform to discuss Europe’s most pressing challenges and opportunities.

Join high-level policymakers, influential opinion leaders, and renowned media representatives from across Europe and beyond as we explore strategies to navigate the continent’s future.

Organised by the European Policy Centre (EPC), a leading think tank since 1997, this flagship event builds on the EPC’s longstanding commitment to fostering European integration through evidence-based analysis, open debate, and meaningful stakeholder collaboration. The conference will showcase the EPC broad policy expertise to offer fresh insights into the EU’s role on the global stage and its vision for the future.

Fabian Zuleeg, EPC Chief Executive and Chief Economist shares:  "We are delighted to announce the second edition of our EPC Annual Conference, a unique platform designed to connect key decision-makers and thought leaders. This gathering will provide essential insights into shaping Europe’s future amidst complex global challenges. Protecting Europe's security is paramount amid the growing challenges posed by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. It is through these conversations that we can equip Europe to confront today’s obstacles and build a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive future."

Janis A. Emmanouilidis, EPC Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Studies highlights the importance of Europe’s role in the context of the ‘permacrisis’: "It is high time to address EUrope’s most pressing issues. By engaging with experts, policymakers, and leaders from across the continent, we aim to explore and craft ambitious strategies to ensure that Europeans remain a strong, innovative force on the global stage – especially in the face of geopolitical uncertainty, economic shifts and global political developments."

This year’s discussions will tackle pivotal issues, including:

  • The implications of the US presidential elections and the potential impact of a second Trump administration.

  • The need for stronger, more independent EU leadership.

  • Strategies to respond to Russia’s war in Ukraine, the strategies required to drive the green transition, ensure economic security, and adapt to the evolving future of work and artificial intelligence.

The conference will feature thought-provoking panel discussions and interactive sessions designed to inspire new perspectives and practical solutions for Europe’s leaders at both EU and national levels. Running from 14:00 to 18:30, the event offers a unique opportunity for insightful dialogue and networking.

Almut Möller, Director for European and Global Affairs and head of the Europe in the World programme shares; "2024 marks a pivotal election year that will have a profound and lasting impact for the years to come. This year’s conference is therefore a timely opportunity to generate fresh perspectives, challenge conventional thinking, and foster meaningful discussions on pivotal issues like sustainable development, technological transformation, and Europe’s resilience in a rapidly changing world."

We look forward to welcoming you to Brussels for this important conversation on Europe’s future.
