Head of Communications


The European Policy Centre, a leading think tank on EU affairs in Brussels, is looking for a Head of Communications to lead its communications team. 

The Head of Communications plans and coordinates all communication activities and crafts compelling messaging in support of the organisation's overall mission. They are responsible for creating, delivering and evaluating an EPC communications strategy that increases the impact of the organisation's advocacy and outreach.

Main responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the organisation's leadership, determine the strategic communication priorities of the EPC;
  • Develop and implement the EPC communications strategy to increase the organisation's visibility and impact;
  • Find new ways to strengthen the EPC's existing communications capacity and extend current outreach by developing innovative communication tools and using new media;
  • Overseeing the planning, editing and publishing of all EPC publications;
  • Create tailored campaigns for EPC projects, publications and events;
  • Work closely with EPC analysts in profile-building to maximise the impact of their policy work;
  • Be able to communicate widely about EPC's partnerships and projects and engage with EPC's partners;
  • Maintain and develop contacts with the media;
  • Help with fund-raising opportunities and develop membership services;
  • Lead and develop the communications team within EPC.

Skills/requirements:

  • Eight years or more relevant professional experience in public relations and/or the media;
  • Proven knowledge of EU affairs and familiarity with the EU environment;
  • Extensive knowledge of communication methods (digital, social media, publishing) and an understanding of/familiarity with IT-related developments;
  • Excellent command of English; thorough knowledge of other major European languages a plus; 
  • Demonstrable commitment to Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI)
  • Interest in EU affairs and commitment to the European integration process;
  • Excellent communication and social skills;
  • Dynamic, flexible, results-oriented;
  • Experience in team leadership is a plus.
