Following last month's election in South Africa, the African National Congress created alliances with other political parties after failing to win a parliamentary majority; for the first time since the 1994 election that marked the end of apartheid. The new coalition government has brought together parties with divergent agendas.
In this online Policy Dialogue, speakers will discuss the domestic and foreign policy priorities of the new unity government and re-elected president Cyril Ramaphosa. This will include assessing the viability of the new coalition and potential challenges, the implications for relations with the EU, as well as South Africa’s policy on Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials.
