With the imminent arrival of US President-elect Donald Trump to the White House and his goal to rapidly end Russia’s war of aggression; 2025 seems set to be a critical year for Ukraine. The approach that Trump takes will be his first test and likely define his entire presidency. It will have major implications not only for Ukraine and the European continent, not least for security but far beyond.

This online Policy Dialogue will assess the state of play on the battlefield, analyse the different options that Trump could take, look at what sort of peace settlement might be agreed. It will explore how to guarantee Ukraine’s lasting security, stability, and ability to defend itself, as well as the steps that European leaders need to take to ensure that Ukraine is in a strong negotiating position. It will also assess the potential role of other actors including from the Global South.

Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials
