For more than two decades, the EPC has hosted the incoming Council Presidency for a dedicated Presidency Briefing one month before the start of its term. In this long-standing format, the Permanent Representative of the Presidency-holder presents the country’s priorities, sets out the political context shaping the six-month agenda, and engages in an open exchange with EPC members and stakeholders. Held every semester, the briefing provides early and authoritative insight into the programme, priorities and strategic direction of the next Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Briefings are complemented by further activities throughout each Presidency term, including through Project Presidency, which partners with think tanks from the country holding the Presidency to deepen analysis, broaden perspectives and sustain engagement beyond the initial exchange.
