Hungary will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union at a crucial time for Europe. Just a few weeks after the elections of the European Parliament, Budapest will play a key role in finalising the work of the current presidency “trio” in the lead up to the Union’s new politico-institutional cycle of 2024-2029.
The upcoming Hungarian Council presidency is set to tackle key themes such as competitiveness of the EU, the future of the single market, enlargement, European defence and security, but also demography and migration . In addition, the Presidency will have to operate amid complex geopolitical and geoeconomic realities with a new political landscape in the making.
In this in-person Breakfast Briefing, the Permanent Representative of Hungary to the EU, Ambassador Bálint Ódor, will present the priorities and discuss the main directions of the Hungarian Council Presidency.
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials

Today’s global and societal challenges require transnational policy responses. European think tanks and civil society play an important role in connecting debates across borders and strengthening exchanges between decision-makers and other relevant stakeholders.
