Throughout the year, the EPC reaffirmed its role as a trusted source of policy expertise, offering practical, forward-looking insights that have helped steer EU policy across key domains from economic governance to international security and European integration. Its work has been instrumental in reinforcing the EU’s strategic autonomy and resilience in a rapidly evolving global context.
Our analysis helped identify the key fault lines and opportunities for pro-European cooperation in the new political-institutional cycle, contributing to the wider debate about how the Union must adapt to govern effectively in this challenging environment.
Through its research and analysis, the EPC has played a pivotal role in supporting the EU’s efforts to strengthen its strategic autonomy and resilience, particularly in the face of global challenges and uncertainties.
The EPC's work continued to address a broad range of European policy challenges, from a growing focus on economic security to ongoing efforts in economic governance and social and health policy. The EPC maintained its focus on the triple transition—digital, green, and social—while examining how these transformations intersect with Europe’s strategic autonomy and global competitiveness.

The EPC's work focused on the watershed moment of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; the permacrisis and the evolution of economic security; democratic decline and revival; the rule of law; the Conference on the Future of Europe; and the necessary social and economic transitions.
We also celebrated the EPC’s 25th Anniversary and hosted the Jubilee Conference in December 2022.
