In July 2025, Denmark will assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU for the eighth time in its history. With transatlantic relations reeling from the first months of the Trump administration and Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine entering a critical phase, the Danish Council Presidency will play an important role in guiding EUrope through an ever more challenging environment.
Building on the work of the outgoing Presidency, security and defence, as well as enlargement, will likely remain central themes. Other pivotal issues, ranging from economic competitiveness and the start of negotiations for the new Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) to the EU’s relations with China and trade diversification amid intensifying global trade fragmentation, will also be high on the agenda.
In this in-person Breakfast Briefing, the Permanent Representative of Denmark to the EU, Ambassador Carsten Grønbech-Jensen, will give a speech on the Danish Council Presidency. Following his presentation, he will take part in a Q&A session chaired by Almut Möller, Director for European and Global Affairs and Head of Programme at the EPC.
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials
