EVENT
Following the launch of the first Annual Migration Management Cycle, the success of reforms to the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) now depends on their robust and effective implementation. Marking another important milestone, the European Commission has also presented its five-year strategy on migration, setting out the priorities expected to shape EU migration and asylum policy in the coming years. Yet uneven levels of preparedness across member states, together with wider geopolitical and societal transformations, raise important questions about the challenges ahead and how the EU and its partners should prepare for them.
Taking place two years after the adoption of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum and two months before its ‘Implementation Day’ on 12 June, this event will feature two panels. The first will examine progress in implementing the New Pact, in light of the Commission’s latest State of Play. The second will explore the EU’s longer-term migration strategy in a world increasingly shaped by instability and profound change.
Participation is open to EPC member, media and EU officials.
