Serbians are going to the polls on October 25. After two years of protests, the students will move from the streets to the ballot box, running under the Student List with the aim of putting an end to 14 years of Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) rule. Aleksandar Vučić resigned as President on 27 September 2026 and is now running again for prime minister.
Several irregularities have already been reported during the campaign, and observers are raising concerns about the fairness of the vote. Recent opinion polls suggest that the election will be tight. Over the past years, the lack of progress on the fundamental criteria and the deterioration of rule of law have prevented Serbia’s progress towards EU membership.
This online event, part of the Election Monitor, will assess the outcome of the elections, the possible scenarios for government formation and their implications for Serbia’s EU path.
