EVENT
The Netherlands heads to the polls on 29 October for parliamentary elections, just two years after the previous vote. The four-party coalition led by Prime Minister Dick Schoof was brought down by the far-right leader Geert Wilders because of disagreement over migration policy.
Wilders’ Party for Freedom (PVV), which won the 2023 elections, is expected to come first again. However, whether it can form another coalition with a parliamentary majority is uncertain.
Will voters opt for continuity under a right-wing government or choose a more moderate coalition? Can the Social Democrats and Greens, led by former EU Commission Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans, defy the odds and form an alternative to the PVV-led coalition?
Taking place in the days following the election, this event will analyse the impact of the results on EU politics and policy-making.
Participation is open to EPC members only, the media, and EU officials
