EVENT
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called snap elections for 24 March. In the wake of US President Donald J. Trump’s threat to annex Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, defence and security have moved to the centre of the campaign, alongside migration and social issues.
This online Elections Monitor will examine the political and strategic implications of the vote. Will the coalition between Social Democrats, Liberals and Centrist be maintained? How will the next government manage the Greenland issue? How might the election results shape Denmark’s position on key EU debates, including the next EU budget, migration, industrial policy, trade and defence?
This event takes place within the scope of the EPC’s Northern Europe Platform (NEP), which provides a forum for analysis and debate on developments in the Nordic, Baltic and Arctic regions.
This event welcomes the participation of EPC member organisations, EU institutions and media.
