The European Policy Centre is delighted to invite you to this online Policy Dialogue, organised jointly by the EPC’s Sustainable Prosperity for Europe programme and the Connecting Europe Project.
COP30 in Brazil this November is expected to be a defining moment for global climate ambition, given the ongoing damage and catastrophic future impacts resulting from global warming. The conference unfolds against a backdrop of escalating geopolitical rivalries and trade tensions. At the same time, the direction of global cooperation is uncertain: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and incursions into EU space continue, trade disputes with China persist, the US retreats from climate leadership and the EU grapples with internal divisions over its 2040 climate targets.
This discussion, taking place just after the conference, will offer a timely opportunity to reflect on the outcomes of COP30 and look ahead to the road to COP31. It will explore how the EU can strengthen global climate partnerships and restore international cooperation in an increasingly turbulent geopolitical and geoeconomic context.
