Paul Butcher
Policy Analyst
Paul Butcher is a Policy Analyst in the European Politics and Institutions Programme. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern and Mediaeval Languages from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Master of Arts in Southeast European Studies from the Karl-Franzens University of Graz, Austria. He joined the EPC in 2017 and contributes to the programme’s work on EU enlargement, citizens’ participation, and online disinformation. His primary research interests include European party politics, nationalism, and the impact of digital technology on democratic systems, with a particular focus on the Balkans.

Before joining the EPC, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Karl-Franzens University of Graz. He has previously completed traineeships at the European Parliament under Alyn Smith MEP and with SOS Children’s Villages in Vienna.
