Just a few days ahead of the publication of the European Commission’s proposal for a New Pact on Migration and Asylum, the EPC hosted an expert roundtable discussion with Ylva Johansson, European Commissioner for Home Affairs. The discussion focused on the contents, priorities and approach of the Commission’s proposal. Amongst others, the Commissioner outlined some key objectives and elements of the reform package, highlighting lessons to be drawn from the past months, including the humanitarian emergency on the Greek islands, as well as the changing dynamics of migration and asylum in Europe. The roundtable was moderated by Marie De Somer, Head of the EPC’s European Migration and Diversity Programme.
