The aim of this CHES Policy Dialogue was to discuss the patients’ perspective of what is most valuable in the delivery of healthcare, and the necessary shift from quantity of medical interventions to quality. Christina Åkerman, President of the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM), presented recent developments in patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) emerging from the OECD Patient-Reported Indicators Survey (PaRIS) project, developed in collaboration with the European Commission. Her presentation was followed by a panel discussion on the challenges and obstacles to bringing in a more streamlined use of patient-reported outcomes.
Speakers also included: Hans Martens, Chair of CHES and EPC Senior Adviser, Kaisa Immonen, Director of Policy, European Patients’ Forum (EPF), Paul De Raeve, Secretary General, European Federation of Nurses Associations, Frank Staelens, Chief Quality and Processes Officer at the OLV Hospital in Belgium, Michael van den Berg, Senior Policy Analyst, Health Division, OECD.
