Hans Martens and Amanda Paul travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate at a conference organised by the EPC and the Centre for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SAM) on 'EU and Azerbaijan: security and integration'. Hans Martens touched on the financial crisis in Europe during his speech, and Amanda Paul spoke on 'Nagorno-Karabakh: A Challenge for the EU'.

The conference was organised by the Centre for Political and Legal Studies in Armenia and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.

Amanda Paul moderated the session on the EU Neighbourhood Policy and Social Transformation in the South Caucasus, while Hans Martens spoke on the panel Eurozone: Towards Federalism.
