EEAS

The EPC addresses the creation and implementation of the European External Action Service (EEAS) in examining the EU and its ability to build up its foreign policy “system”, especially in the light of the new provisions of the Lisbon Treaty. Analysis of the EEAS is essential in order to understand the ways in which the Union engages with the world.

In this context, the EPC and the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) have launched a joint research project on ‘The European External Action Service and National Diplomacies’, co-directed by Rosa Balfour, Senior Policy Analyst, and Kristi Raik, Researcher at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA). The project includes case studies to be conducted by experts in Brussels and in 15 Member States, and is assisted by a high-level Steering Committee.
