Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation

Environmental catastrophes and extreme weather conditions – natural or man-made – pose huge challenges for Europe’s economies, society, governments and regions and affect many sectors, such as agriculture, energy, transport, ecosystems, finance and insurance, building, tourism and health. These are events for which Europe can, and should, be prepared. Therefore, an effective climate policy needs to address both mitigation and adaptation strategies, and these need to be based on a thorough understanding of their economic and social implications.
