Dr Carles Jovaní-Gil is a Programme Assistant on the Europe in the World Programme. His research focuses on EU foreign policy in Eastern Europe, the Russian Federation, the South Caucasus and Turkey.
Before joining the EPC, Carles worked as a fellow researcher and lecturer at the University of Valencia (Spain). He has also been a LINKS-Commonspace.eu special correspondent to the parliamentary elections of Georgia (2016), a Blue Book trainee at the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission, and an intern at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
Carles obtained both a PhD in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice and a BA in Geography from the University of Valencia, where he lectured for two years, an MA in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe, and a MA in International Relations: Security and Development from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has been visiting scholar at Columbia University and The London School of Economics and Political Science. Among other recognitions, he has received the European Policy Centre Award for the best dissertation on Europe in the world, the Spanish National Award for Excellence in University Academic Performance, the Ramón Areces Foundation Scholarship for Conducting Postgraduate Studies Abroad, or the Cañada Blanch Foundation Prize to the best overall BA performance in Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Valencia.Click here for Publications
