Marco Funk is a Policy Analyst in the European Migration and Diversity Programme.

He holds a Master in European Affairs from Sciences Po Paris and a Bachelor in Political Science from the University of Central Florida.

Before joining the EPC, he worked as a Research Assistant at the EU Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) Brussels Liaison Office. He previously worked for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Vienna, and completed traineeships at the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

He published a book about Europe’s refugee situation (Fortress Europe's Inner Wall: Migrant Dilemmas at the Brenner Pass) in 2015, after spending several months as a volunteer with an Italian NGO providing humanitarian assistance to refugees at the Italy/Austria border.

Coordination or support for several projects in the European Migration and Diversity Programme.

Area of expertise

EU migration and asylum policy, foreign and security policy aspects of migration, transatlantic cooperation.
