Tania Marocchi is Policy Analyst and Programme Executive of FutureLab Europe, a programme aiming to empower the voice of young people. Her responsibilities include the daily management of the FutureLab Europe programme and the analysis of a wide range of policy areas related to democratic participation and equal opportunities.

Prior to joining the EPC, Tania was Research Assistant at the Institute for Central Eastern and Balkan Europe in Forlì, Italy, where she focused on Russia-EU relations. She holds a MA in International and Diplomatic Affairs from the University of Bologna and is an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley, the Prague Security Studies Institute and the University of Vilnius, Lithuania.

EESC Eastern Neighbours Follow-up Committee

Tania Marocchi participated in a European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) Eastern Neighbours Follow-up Committee meeting on the state of play in EU-Belarus relations and talked on the political situation in Belarus, its relations with the EU, as well as on civil society activities in the country.

Tania Marocchi spoke to a group of students of the University of Limerick (Ireland) about the challenges and future outlook of EU-Russia relations. The discussion was part of a study visit to Brussels organised by the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe.

The Boris Nemtsov Forum
17 November 2016

On November 16-17, 2016 Tania Marocchi spoke at the Boris Nemtsov Forum, a platform for Russian-European dialogue organised by the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom and the Open Russia movement, working in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. The working group on Governance and Politics which she joined discussed the necessary reforms to enhance Russia’s governance structure and democratic quality at federal and republic levels, and developed ideas to strengthen governance and democratic politics in Russia.

On 15 November 2016, Tania Marocchi was a discussant at the Roundtable on the Inter-generational Dialogue for Democracy organised by IDEA International and hosted by Mr. Tom Vandenkendelaere, Member of the European Parliament. The debate focused on how to enhance young peoples' participation and representation in political life in Europe. 

The Russian opposition
3 November 2016

On 3 November 2016, Tania Marocchi was interviewed for an article on the Russian opposition which was published on the printed version of the Portuguese daily newspaper Expresso. 

EU-Russia relations
28 September 2016

Tania Marocchi spoke at a closed expert round table organised by the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies (MC) on EU-Russia relations. The workshop brought together prominent decision-makers and experts from political and academic circles to debate the current state of EU-Russia affairs, to develop realistic scenarios of cooperation where desirable and possible, and to design effective EU responses to Russia's aggressive acts.

Ahead of Jean-Claude Juncker's State of the Union address to the European Parliament on 14 September 2016, the EP released a list of selected think tank reading. Two EPC publications were included: 'The need to re-engage Europe's youth' by Tania Marocchi, and 'The EU Global Strategy: going beyond effective multilateralism?' which contains contributions from Juliane Schmidt and Balazs Ujvari.

Recipes for Ending Hunger
15 June 2016

On June 15, Tania Marocchi moderated the session Recipes for Ending Hunger – Youth’s Vision Against Malnutrition at the European Development Days. The session discussed practical solutions to achieve food security and improve nutrition in the world's poorest countries taking into account the challenges posed to agriculture by climate change.

Euro-Mediterranean Relations
9 October 2015

On 8-9 October, Andrea Frontini and Tania Marocchi represented the EPC at the EuroMeSCo Annual Conference 2015 on 'Reviewing the Euro-Mediterranean Relations' in Milan, Italy. They also presented a preliminary draft for an IEMed Paper on EU-NATO cooperation in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
