Europe in the World

EU Neighbourhood Forum

This Forum analyses the EU’s relations with the countries closest to the Union, focusing not only on the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) as a whole, but also on the regions and countries concerned.

It follows the debate in the EU on how the policy might be strengthened, providing opportunities for representatives of the EU institutions and from the partner countries to discuss and exchange views on how ENP could be made more effective and attractive. It also focuses on the ENP’s overall coherence and whether a single policy framework can be sufficient for regions as diverse as the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe.

It also looks at the EU’s relations with specific sub-regions in the neighbourhood, including the Black and Caspian Seas, the Southern Caucasus, and the wider Mediterranean basin.

In addition, it addresses issues crucial to the development of these regions, monitors political and economic developments in specific countries, and considers their impact on the EU and other neighbours.

The Forum is chaired by Professor Richard Whitman, from the University of Kent, and coordinated by Amanda Paul, Policy Analyst.
