Role for and responsibilities of the young generation

Claire Dhéret took part in a conference organised by the Delegation of the EU to Senegal and the Embassy of Italy to Senegal. This event aimed to discuss the future of the European and African continents on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the EU. Claire Dhéret focused her intervention on the role of young people in shaping the future of Europe and highlighted the challenges and opportunities that young people represent for the future of the EU. She also participated in a debate with African students and discussed the similarities and differences that characterise the young generation on each of the two continents.

Juliane Schmidt spoke on the rise of populism and what can be done about it at the political and citizens’ level at the panel debate “Russlands Einfluss auf Europas Rechtspopulisten” in the European Parliament, organised by the Austrian Green MEP Michel Reimon. Other speakers included MEP Othmar Karas and Prof Dr Ulrich Schneckener from the University of Osnabrueck. The event was moderated by Lena Kampf, journalist for WDR and Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

On this occasion, she addressed the questions of what skills are needed for the industry of the future and how to deliver them.
