Germany as Europe’s leading power: the view from France, Greece and Poland
19 June 2017

Julian Rappold contributed to a joint paper with Claire Demesmay and Jana Puglierin published by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). Assessing the view from France, Greece and Poland, the authors argue that Germany needs to rebuild trust and credibility with its European partners and involve them more strongly in order to prevent accusations of German dominance and unilateralism. Berlin should not only actively offer cooperation and upgrade its partners. A better explanation of its European position and the ability to compromise are also inevitable.
